The third sector is one of the core actors in contemporary society. With diverse development, the third sector employs various social innovation strategies and highlight cross-sector collaborations. Taiwan’s third sector has gone through different stages: being under control and oppression, moving toward openness and participation, and emphasizing transparency and accountability. Currently, Taiwan’s third sector has encountered many issues and challenges. Thus, revisiting its role and reflecting on its further direction will be a central concern for theory and practice.
